Hello San Diego!

Friday (today) at Oasis, Tzidia and Aegean Echo will perform songs and dance music from the Balkans and beyond. The Golden State Ballet will begin their performances of The Nutcracker at the Civic Theatre. The Digital Gym will screen We Might As Well Be Dead with repeat showings on the 17th and 20th. Banda Tierra Surena will perform at Sierra Madre.

Saturday, there will be a Kermesse Market at Mission Valley Mall to support the fabulous Media Arts Center and all the great work they do. You can join the San Diego Archaeological Center for an in-person lecture with bioarchaeologist José “Pepe” Aguilar who will discuss The Skeletons of La Consentida in Oaxaca. The San Diego Youth Ballet will perform The Nutcracker at the JCC. The San Diego Ballet will perform 2 shows of their version of The Nutcracker at the Magnolia in El Cajon. The House of Puerto Rico will hold a Gala de Navidad at the Portuguese Club. There will be a Yalda Celebration at the Iranian American Center. The annual Irish Christmas Concert will take place at the Balboa Theater. The film Hell Bound Boys will be screened at the Museum of Contemporary Art. Following the film, there will be a Q&A with the film's author/director Sergio Hernandez. There will be a Ukrainian Culture Celebration at the North University Community Library. Latin-American singer-songwriter Amanda Portela will perform at Bogey's Pub and Grill.

Sunday, there will be a ISC Record Fair x Japonesia Holiday Market at the Quartyard. The Farewell Party will be screened at the Mission Valley Library. There will be a Fiesta Venezolana Navideña at the Encore Events Center in Clairemont Mesa. A Merry-achi Christmas will once again take place at the Balboa Theatre. Six-time Grammy Award winner Gilberto Santa Rosa will perform at the Magnolia. Filipino-American comedian Mikey Perry will host his Filipino comedy show Ube World at Mic Drop Comedy.

Monday, there will be a Kwanzaa Storytime at the Mountain View/Beckwourth Library. At the Hall of Nations in Balboa Park, there will be a talk on the Legacy of Scottish Immigrants on the West Coast History & Storytelling. There will be a concert of Winter Songs of Ukraine at the Mingei.

Wednesday, the Irish film Sing Street will be shown at the Coronado Library.

Next Thursday, there will be a Yalda Night for Liberty at Sufi Mediterranean Cuisine. Yale Strom and Hot Pstromi will present their annual Winter Schminter Concert at the First UU Church.

Next Friday, the classic film The Lion in Winter will be shown at the North University Community Library. The annual Las Posadas Traditional Mexican Christmas Celebration by Mariachi Champaña Nevin will happen at the Balboa Theatre.

Next Saturday, Mexican American guitarist and singer El Vez will perform his Mex-Mas Show at The Casbah.

Ongoing Theatrical Productions include 1222 Oceanfront: A Black Family Christmas at the New Village Arts Theatre, Passage Into Fear at the California Center for the Arts, and Every Day Vanilla at the Moxie.
